Final Instalment

Rain greeted us on arrival at Stavanger. A large city more similar to Bergen than any other port we have visited. We weren't in a hurry to brave the rain so we had a slow start with a sleep in and late breakfast. Our aim was to find a hop on hop off bus which we found easily. A lovely city with history and charm.   The final wifi search took us to the tourist information centre.
We walked, in clearing skies, the cobblestone lanes on the hillside of the old town before making our way back to the ship. Opposite the dock was a most unusual settlement of old, white timber houses which clung to the hillside creating an intriguing final Norwegian wander.
As the afternoon progressed the clouds parted and we were rewarded with a final sunny sail away. The fiords have not been quite as I expected, thinking it would all be like Milford Sound. Only one, Geiranger met those expectations. They have however been varied and expansive, always providing picturesque scenery.
Our last sea day was busy with gym, trivia, packing, reading, discussing our next cruise with the future cruising staff member and bidding farewell to trivia and dinner companions as well as crew who had spoilt us for sixteen days. Arrival in Dover on Saturday morning was drenched in sunshine. A ten hour wait in Heathrow was long but meant there was a short wait in Singapore.

Another wonderful holiday journey which I know I am most fortunate to be able to experience.
